The Thomson family

With Ronald McDonald House providing the care and support they needed, The Thompson Family stayed focused on their son’s recovery. They will forever be grateful for it.

In December 2012, our normal family life was turned upside down when blood tests confirmed that our 12-year-old son, Tyrel, was in the last stages of kidney failure. It was then that we found RMHC Hamilton. Exhausted, without anything from home, it was an overwhelming place of peace and caring people who took so much time making us feel welcomed and giving us a sanctuary to stay focused on our son.

After 8 months of complications, surgeries, and hemodialysis treatments, Tyrel received a new kidney in August 2013.

I can’t remember many events over this past year, but we do know RMHC Hamilton was so important to our healing together as a family. We feel so fortunate for the care and support we received from the House and we will always be grateful to the people who support the House for helping us be with Tyrel every step of the way.
