Thirty five years ago my nephew was diagnosed with a very rare syndrome. At that time, Sick Kids Hospital did not have isolation units. After spending a short time at RMHC Toronto, my brother and his family were transferred to Minneapolis for his care and where they stayed for a period of over nine months at RMHC Minneapolis. We are forever grateful for the care, kindness and support of staff and volunteers. Having a comfortable and affordable home so close to the hospital was a blessing. Thank you!

There are so many special moments that I have had the pleasure of experiencing while working at RMHC Manitoba. The connections made with families and seeing firsthand the how much RMHC Manitoba has supported them during their incredibly difficult times has been amazing and life changing. The continuous and kind giving of donors and volunteers is heartwarming and I am beyond proud to play a small role. My favorite part of being a part of this organization are all the connections made with the children and seeing their smiling faces and the joy the little things bring them. Being able to play a role in allowing them to enjoy a new toy, spend time doing arts and crafts, playing games, and so much more is touching.

RMHC is a great place for families to stay close to their loved ones while their child is unwell. This charity is particularly close to my heart as when my nephew was born, he was very ill and spent over a month in the neonatal intensive care unit. RMHC provided a place for my brother-in-law to stay for over 30 days where he could visit his baby at any time of the day without having to worry about the long commute to the hospital, reducing costs and providing a home away from home. As RMHC says, "when families stay together, sick children get stronger”. #RMHCMomentsCount

When my first child was born, after many hours of labor, I had to have an emergency C-section. When my son was being checked right after the nurses thought they heard a murmur in his heart. He was then monitored in the NICU and with it being my first child and an unexpected c-section, I was so grateful that I was allowed to stay in the RMHC room in the hospital, to stay close to my son. There are no words to explain how grateful I was and am for this charity.

Our son Jonah was diagnosed with Luekemia at 3years old. We spent a month at RMH. They brought us to a box at the Jays game. We met so many great people there. We named all of the fish Kevin, after one of the.main staff Kevin who all of the kids loved. We even went as a group later.to cook a meal for the house. We ensured to also have gluten free options and families who needed them were happy

I was able to hold my miracle grandson we call “Chi Chi” for the first time Thanksgiving weekend 2013. After this thankful moment in the NICU we enjoyed a family Thanksgiving dinner that we brought and finished prepping at RMHouse (Toronto) for the parents and extended families. So special and to also see that the “house” also provided so many nutritional meals for those stYing there was amazing. My daughter was there for 96 days with her baby and partner. The first of a few stays but all a successful ending. God Bless these folks.

I have volunteered at Ronald McDonald House for 11 years. There are many valued memories from those years. My most cherished memory happened prior to one of RMHC Manitoba's Gala events in which I was assigned to drive the Honorary Family to the event. Their child, Joy, was accompanying her parents. The weather was unseasonably cold and Joy was wrapped completely in nice warm blankets. When we arrived at the event location, I was helping the family get out of the van. Understandably, they were nervous and got a bit tangled getting out. Then, somehow, the little girl was passed out to me. I held her tight, while everyone got out from the vehicle. As I stood holding this precious wee bundle, she worked her arm free and reached out from the blanket wrapping. I gently held her hand, and she squeezed my finger. I still get teary thinking about that moment. The little one with all the challenges, was looking after everyone else.

The house not only gave us a safe and close place to be near our baby but they also provided Amazing meals and support to myself and husband after a traumatic delivery. We were always greeted with a warm smile. The NICU family room at the hospital also was a safe haven and gave me much needed breakfast when. The clean interior and exterior! Beautiful rooms. Comfortable beds. She had to return to the city for rehabilitation and is staying there atm. The rooms are large enough so she can use the extra equipment she needs for her rehab and is quite comfortable in doing so. As an employee of RMHC Manitoba, my initial tours of the House and Family Room were both emotional and completely unforgettable. It was my first-ever tour of a Ronald McDonald House, which left me in tears a couple of times – an awkward and unique experience during a job interview! After working at the House for a bit, I was invited to the RMHC Manitoba Family Room. My senses clearly recall stepping out of the cool, sterile hospital hallway and into the warm and cozy Family Room. A smiling volunteer kindly welcomed me into the home-like space, where the smell of coffee and fresh baking filled the air. I was in awe, and will never forget it. They are both very special places.

When my 16 year old son, Chad was in Saskatoon getting chemo treatments for cancer, in 2016-2017 RMH Saskatoon became our home. And it truly was home. Warmth, companionship, love, care and support were all readily available and so appreciated. The staff became family and we are still in touch today. It was where all the “happy” things happened, as when Chad was there, it meant he was getting a break from treatment. He loved to sit out on the deck in the summer and enjoy the warmth of the sun, away from the hospital. We’ll never forget and will always support the Ronald McDonald House. Paula Young.

My daughter, Amelia, was born with duadenal atresia and malrotation of organs. On the 3rd day of life she was rushed to Sick Kids for an emergency surgery and subsequently post operative care for 2 months. After over a month of care in the NICU, she was moved to the general ward and didn't have the same round the clock care she was receiving in the NICU. My wife and I moved into the hospital and relied on the Ronald McDonald family accommodation for over a week so we could be close to Amelia and give her the care, nurturing, and attachment she needed to heal and feel safe. The Ronald McDonald Family Room was a blessing and we are extremely appreciative of the support RMHC has provided us and many other families over the years. Thank you
